That's Not Gangster

Last night I played a few hot weather records while enjoying the prospect of the first real day off in a long time. I pressed record, and the result is hear for your listening pleasure. Recommended for hot pavement and slow days. All vinyl as always.

Aura - Freex (fre'ak)
20 plays

Freex (fre'ak) - Aura from Freex 45

Aura | Freex (fre’ak) (SBS Records, 1978)

Not to be confused with Steve Arrington project Aurra, this is a small press modern soul 45 with some crazy breaks throughout.  One of those .25 bin finds that renews faith in digging.

I’ve only heard Aura once before, when DJ Harvey dropped the 12” flipside in his Resident Advisor mix.  A Discogs reviewer suspects there were only 700 of these pressed. Enjoy.

This weekend’s dig:
Lonnie Liston Smith - Cosmic Funk
Lonnie Liston Smith - Dreams of Tomorrow
Charles Williams - Stickball
Norman Connors - Dance of Magic
Willie Colon/Ruben Blades - Metiendo Mano
Lamont Dozier - Peddlin’ Music on the Side
Bo$$ - Deeper
